At this stage you can see how I spread slowly and carefully out from the centre. I have at this stage begun to score the paper with a cocktail stick. Shading over the grooves the whiskers magically appear. It is a technique that can be over used and damage the paper surface beyond repair. I proceeded with caution. http://flic.kr/p/6i2hfh

Many of these drawings including the one above are drawn in just mechanical pencil, I loooove drawing with mechanical pencil cuz they have those perfect little erasers. I wanted to upload my drawings to flickr to share with you guys my other, more natural side of creativity. I have been drawing ever since I was a toddler, I used to focus a ton on drawing but I kind of shifted to photography over the past few years instead. :) Many of the drawings below are either 18x24 or 24x36, big. I'm nearly there. The grass is a problem and I am not confident as I work. I scored some grass in with a cocktail stick and wished to show some grass out of focus so I have lifted out the forground randomly with a putty eraser and blu-tak. It's hard to know when to stop when you are drawing an impression of what you see rather than slavishly copying. It is easy to get too fussy and risk ruining your work conversely being timid will also go against me if I start to get precious. http://flic.kr/p/6kbu6y

When you are in Lion country it certainly lends an edge to your safari. And there is no better place in the world to see them than in the Ngorongoro Crator in Tanzania. It has the highest concentration of large predators on Earth.This guy was not really alone, he was with his brother. They were both fit and healthy and showed none of the battle scars of older males. They were young pretenders to the throne and for the time being they were biding their time. The keen eyed amongst you might have noticed that the setting is unlike the crator.
